The Veritas Laureate
The distinction and the Veritas Ring
The recipient is named Veritas Laureate in recognition of exceptional academic achievement, intellectual maturity, integrity and a singular contribution to the life of the University. The distinction celebrates both the formation attained and the responsibility to place learning at the service of truth and the common good.
The Veritas Ring is the physical insignia of The Veritas Laureate Award. Crafted as a permanent symbol of merit, it bears the identity of the University and is presented to the Veritas Laureate in a dedicated academic act. Its design represents continuity, belonging and commitment to the academic ideals of PCU-USA.
Eligibility
Highest achievement
Earn the highest final weighted average in the cohort, calculated solely from final grades in the official academic record.
Academic merit
Demonstrate excellence in the program’s final work, research or required scholarly production, together with conduct fitting the distinction.
Selection
After grades close and the degree audit is complete, the Registrar identifies eligible graduates. The Presidency determines The Veritas Laureate Award from the official record and the academic recommendation. A tie is resolved by the consistency of achievement, the quality of the final work and the student’s academic contribution. The decision is documented, and the distinction may be withheld when no candidate meets its standard.
Institutional record
The title of Veritas Laureate and The Veritas Laureate Award become part of the student’s permanent academic record and are accompanied by an institutional citation. Each Veritas Ring is personal, numbered and linked to its act of conferral.
