Official institutional policy
01
Choose the appropriate process
A service complaint concerns delay, communication or administrative quality. A grievance alleges unfair treatment, failure to follow policy or another material institutional problem. An appeal asks an authorized reviewer to change a defined decision. Grade review, academic integrity, admissions and conduct matters follow their specific rules first, with this policy filling procedural gaps.
02
Submission and review
A student should open a request through Student Services, identify the facts, relevant dates, requested outcome and supporting material. The University assigns a protocol number, acknowledges the matter, routes it away from a person whose own conduct is under review and communicates material delays. Informal resolution may be attempted when appropriate, without preventing a timely formal review.
03
Decision, appeal and non-retaliation
The written outcome states the issue considered, decision, principal reasons and any available appeal. Unless a specific rule provides otherwise, an appeal is due within ten calendar days and must identify new material evidence, procedural error, conflict of interest or a clearly disproportionate outcome. Good-faith use of this process is protected from retaliation; knowingly false allegations may be addressed under the conduct policy.
